Luke & Sam Show

by Luke & Sam with special guests

Over the years I’ve been writing and recording songs with my grandsons Luke & Sam and there’s enough songs to have their own album! The first song I wrote with Luke was when he was 3 years old and decided he wasn’t a little boy but a ballerina! He objected to anyone referring to him as a little boy, which resulted in “The Little Ballerina” song. “Going Down That Bumpy Road” had it’s origins from Luke and I singing as we drove down the long dirt road from their Sacred Mountain home in North Carolina. Based on an imagination game they used to play constantly, Luke and Sam composed their first solo song “Dinosaur and Alien” in a recording session with grandpa. “Downtown Kitty Kat” was Luke’s song idea when we were jamming together in Weaverville! After that, we thought that it would be fun to do a dance tune, which resulted in the James Brown inspired, “Got To Go To Taekwondo”. Luke was the major lyricist on that song due to his study of the martial arts! As we thought about song ideas, we talked about books that Sara was reading to Luke and Sam. This turned into “Laura’s Song about chasing life’s mysteries based on Little House on the Prairie and “If I was Your Friend” which imagined Luke as Dorothy’s friend in the Wizard of Oz. After Sam sent me a picture of a snowman that he built out of the one inch of snow that they get in North Carolina, I was inspired to write the Christmas song “Dirty Little Snowman”. Sam added his vocals on his next trip to grandpa’s house. Next thing is to take our act on the road!
